CBA Standing Committees

Engage with Your Industry by Becoming a CBA Standing Committee Member

As a member-owned cooperative, CBA relies on member participation to ensure the smooth operation of the association. We have several standing committees dedicated to managing different facets of the association that members are invited to join based on their interests and expertise.

Joining a committee is a great way to meet others in the industry and share your knowledge and insights to help make CBA even more valuable for all members.

If you would like to become a standing committee member, please email us at support@commercialmls.com or contact the CBA Staff member who chairs that committee.

CBA Arbitration Committee

CBA SVP and Board shall appoint an Arbitration Chair to each filed arbitration. The Arbitration Chair shall be responsible for working with the SVP to identify panel members to hear Arbitration disputes. Upon receipt of a request for Arbitration, the SVP will contact the Arbitration Chair to determine names of appropriate panel members. An effort will be made to identify potential panel members based on company size, product or geographic specialty, or other criteria deemed appropriate for the specific dispute. Regardless of the specifics of the dispute, all potential panel members must be members of CBA in good standing, be an experienced commercial real estate broker, and have no pending licensing or ethics complaints.

Time Commitment: 1-2 panels a year, based on complaints filed. A typical arbitration requires 1 day of service.

CBA Staff Contact: The committee is chaired by Mary Lyell Larsen, SVP, Research & Data Services. If you have any questions or would like more information about the committee, please contact Mary at mary@commercialmls.com or 425-952-2722.

CBA Education & Programs Committee

Members of the Education & Programs committee provide feedback on commercial real estate educational course content provided by CBA for clock hours. They also examine and audit new curriculum, vet online learning opportunities, and have the option to help plan one-off events and programs such as the CBA Education Forum. Free clock hours may be available for committee members who audit courses.

Time Commitment: Quarterly meetings and additional conference calls/other meetings as needed.

CBA Staff Contact: The committee is chaired by Kristin Austin, Education Manager. If you have any questions or would like more information about the committee, please contact Kristin at kaustin@commercialmls.com or (425) 952-2739.

Members should be familiar with CBA Legal Forms used in basic commercial real estate transactions. Must be a licensed broker in the state of Washington.

Time Commitment: One (1) half-day meeting, additional group emails, and conference calls as needed.
