This comprehensive course provides a practical, broker-focused overview of commercial underwriting and real estate financing. Participants will explore common loan types, core underwriting principles, and the documentation and negotiation strategies that drive successful financing outcomes.
By the end of this course, participants will be able to:
- Explain how lenders evaluate risk in commercial real estate transactions
- Apply core underwriting principles to assess borrower and property viability
- Identify common loan structures and financing options used in commercial lending
- Interpret key loan documents, including security agreements and UCC filings
- Analyze recourse provisions and guaranty structures
- Evaluate environmental indemnity provisions and associated risk
- Negotiate critical business and legal terms in commercial loan agreements
